This is so frustrating. Narcolepsy, on top of depression, is a very difficult disorder to deal with!
My sleep doc first tried to prescribe me a medication called xyrem that would have actually helped, but my insurance didn't approve it. So until we can prove to the insurance that stimulants don't work on me, I'm stuck in this pattern of basically sleeping my life away. Even on a high dose of a controlled stimulant I never feel completely awake. I feel like my life is just becoming one constant struggle to stay awake. Maybe in a few months, when I'm able to see him again, we will be able to convince the insurance. Until then.....its a very frustrating holding pattern.
Hypersomnia sucks. Sleep problems in general just suck.
