For a good while now, maybe several months, I've had a really hard time falling asleep. I started taking one Benadryl tab to help and it works but last night I took two tabs because I wasn't feeling good and was restless so I knew I wasn't going to sleep well or actually go to sleep. I took those two tabs of Benadryl and fell asleep pretty easy but I woke up like four hours later! I still don't feel very good, I was nauseous and had a migraine every day now for a week or so. I don't know if it's stress doing this or depression or what! Is there a reason the Benadryl isn't working to help me sleep?

With me, it is depression that stops medication like benadryl from working. And I know that for me stress and depression go hand in glove...as the stress increases, the depression deepens. As a result, not even prescription sleep medication (ambien) works. When the depression lifts, the insomnia goes away too. I hope that this helps.

^ I agree with you. I'm on Ambien, and it has stopped working for me. I end up waking up 3-4 hrs after falling asleep.

Thank you guys. My T suggested melatonin yesterday, which I haven't tried yet.
