badmouse, I would start with your regular doctor and ask for a referral if needed. I would think he/she would know what kind of doctor to recommend. I am really not sure.

Hope you can get better sleep before too long.

Hi badmouse,

I would say you could probably go to your general practitioner, but I think that psych doctors know more about their medications and you may have better luck there. Anybody could suggest anything but the many prescription sleep meds vary and it depends on your own body chemistry.

I tried Ambien and it just made me sleepwalk and make food at night that had be confused in the morning how I could do so much and not remember it. I tried Lunesta got a metal taste in my mouth and did nothing for sleep. I went on a different path and have been on Seroquel 100mg low dose for six months now and I get 8 hours every night without waking. The only problem I have now is very colorful and vivid, some disturbing, some pure fun. It's weird being on two antipsychotis (zyprexa and seroquel) but I have discussed this with my p-doc and also researched them on webmd and medscape... usually 100mg or less does not activate the antipsychtic properties of the med, just as reports have shown it can effectively be used as sleep aid... and is.

Much Peace,
