I haven't heard anything about it helping nightmares. When I took it I had very vivid dreams, but none of them were nightmares. That said, I'm not prone to nightmares anyway.

Maybe time will tell?

I took it before and I don't remember the side effects. It didn't work for me in the end but I'm happy that it's working out for you!

1/2 of 25mg. seroquel is the only med which puts me to sleep and keeps me asleep and also stops the racing, repetitive thoughts as part of my bp2.most of my dreams are very vivid and sometimes a bit scary due to the detail of the dreams, but for me, it's worth it for good, deep sleep every night. the 30 min. hangover in the morning is also well worth it.
Thanks for this!

My dr gave it to me for nightmares/sleeping problems...now I have night sweats. I think I'm going to discontinue it and request another med.

Okay. I don't know if it's a med with a therapeutic dosage or not. Maybe you need a bit higher dose?

Yes, see what your doc says.

Dear ginaaa22,

I have never heard of Seroquel being prescribed to help with nightmares.
Packaging warn of side effects I don't remember if disturbed sleep was one of them.
Call your doctor as you are already on a lot of meds to begin with.
The difference between a dream and a nightmare is a calm state of mind / confusion and fear.
If you would like to share your dreams, I am pretty good at interpretations.
Diazepine at bedtime might help but talk with your DR.
I hope this helps, My thoughts are with you. You are in control of your dreams.

I cant really remember much of my dreams-like the specifics but my fiance can tell when I'm having one because I breathe really heavy and I move rapidly in my sleep. Most of the dreams involve trauma I suffered as a child. My dr was going to give me prazosin but decided on seroquel instead. I called my pharmacy and they said that tempature regulations is a side effect and I should lower my dose to 50mg for a week or so and see if my body will get used to it. I hope I can get rid of the nightmares but if I keep getting them by my next pdoc apt in telling him I need a different med. I see him every month-or sooner if I need to.

I take 100 mgs for sleep every night. I have to take it 3 hrs before I go to bed because for me it takes a while to work, but that is just me.

So I remember two of my nightamres from last night lol.

The first one I'm at work and we have an IM system and I get an IM from someone who I dont know and its like a robot sending me a million messages a minute and I cant read them. So I go to my car which is quite a walk away from the building and as I'm leaving I say to someone else I think I should get a CCW since I'm going to be traveling to drs offices in detroit. So as I was out the door I'm walking to my car and these two guys with guns are like hey stop. So I run off...but they catch me and basically corner me and then I woke up before anything else happened.

The second one is I'm in like this weird world. Its like all these abandoned buildings and there are these trucks that come out of the sky and like drive around and destroy things like buildings and I guess the objective is to not get hit by one. So i'm like jumping from place to place trying to avoid them and finally I get cornered and then I wake up again.

These are pretty much how most of my dreams are except with different circumstances.

Last night I couldnt sleep very well and I toss and turn thinking about things like "does my T think I'm really messed up" "do people think I'm a joke because I'm so screwed up" and I pretty much just think about all these crazy things. Maybe I should start taking my xanax at night to help me sleep? I have .025mg but my pdoc said I could take .50mg at bedtime. I heard the birds chirping because I had my window open right next to my bed because of the night sweats. I woke up with a migraine and could not get comfortable because my head hurt really bad. I'm starting a new job next week. I'm not really too worried about it because I'm good at what I do.. I have alot of repressed memories and stuff that I've just ran away from for soo long. I slept maybe 5-6 hours and I usually sleep 10-13 hours a day...

Yep, at least 3 hours for me, too.

Not really... on low doses of 100mg or less it doesn't activate the antipsychotic properties of the medication according to medscape and my p-doc. I take it at night to sleep throughout the night giving me almost a good 8 hours.

However, the documented side effects and from my own personal experience with this particular medication is that you get *very vivid, colorful, surreal, sometimes nightmarish, and even erotic dreams from taking Seroquel/Quetipine*. I am fighting nightmares every night but my p-doc has put me on Prazosin at a recently titrated dose of 4mg a night to help and it is helping some but Seroquel is a powerful dream inducer. Please keep us informed how it is affecting your sleep and dreams.

Best of luck with Seroquel,

YES me too... I take 100mg of Seroquel at night to get about 8 hours of solid sleep. The only problem I am fighting now is the side effect (both documented and my personal experience) is that of nightmares. I won't quit this medication because it does a better job for sleep than Trazadone ever did and I don't wake up with the Trazadone hangover. I wake up refreshed and ready for the day.

Thanks for letting me share,
