I have always had pretty vivid dreams, but lately I'm having a really hard time separating things that I dream from things that have really happened. I keep dreaming things, I think, and then thinking that it really occurred. Like, for example, I was completely convinced that my mother told me we were going to go see my grandparents this weekend. She says she never told me that, and it would be completely illogical for us to go out of town this weekend, but I clearly remember her telling me to remember to pack my swimsuit to swim in my grandparents' pool...which, they don't have a pool. But I'm seeing it as a memory. I think I dreamed it.
Anyways, this is happening with more frequency...has this happened to anyone else? How do I stop it? :/

When I was taking Seroquel, my dreams were as vivid as you say, and I had to really think hard about whether I had just dreamed something or if it really happened.

If need be, then I suggest you just ask the involved folks, telling them about how vivid your dreams are.

This problem didn't stop until I stopped the Seroquel. Maybe you can ask your prescriber about it, but I don't know anything that can be done when drugs are causing the problem.

Is that what is probably happening with you?

I would certainly bring that up, if for no other reason other than to let people know what is going on. Sometimes this may not be an issue while other times you may have preferred if you had let someone know beforehand. I hope that if you discontinue use it will just revert back to normal.

Sometimes when I get up I may have a hard time separating what I just dreamed of from what is really going on but within a few minutes I am usually able to separate them out.

On the rare occasion that I do dream, which I don't seem to anymore, I would be able to separate my dream from reality, but then I would find that those rare dreams that actually make sense give me a deja vu feeling when they occur in reality.

For example, I could have had a conversation with my mother in a dream in a certain room and then, like a month later, I'll have that very conversation with my mother in that exact room. It'll give me a deja vu feeling because I can't help but get that this has already happened before.

It's very strange...

This happens to me sometimes. Not as much anymore as it used to. I'm not sure what caused mine, but if I had to, I would've guessed sleep deprivation. At the time this was happening to me, I was never really able to get much sleep. Maybe 5 hours a night and some nights not even more than 3. Could sleep deprivation maybe be causing yours too?

Oh, I hadn't even thought of that. YES! I've been having a LOT of trouble sleeping through the night, and when I do sleep it's like I've been dropped down a well; instant, deep, intense sleep. When I wake up I panic because I have no idea where I am, what day it is, where I need to be, etc.
I'm not on any meds right now, so it probably could be from sleep deprivation.

That's exactly how I felt! I never knew what was going on
I'm glad I could help!
