I've often have strange and bad dreams. Even the earliest dream I remember as a kid was also very strange and bad in a violent way. How to explain these dreams... Well, everything is in color but in a dark tone. I often see extremely strange landscapes or just very different versions of ones I already know, which is normal, right? However, for the longest time, I've been having dreams of the world ending in some horrible, cataclysmic way. Weird, huh? The world I live in during these dreams are almost always not Earth, but something happens, like an asteroid, volcano, earthquake, the moon shattering and falling to Earth, tornados taking over (I've had that one surprisingly lot)... A bunch of overly-dramatic scenarios. The dream usually starts with myself and other people finding out about the event going to happen, or it just happens in the middle of a bad dream about something else. As the years go on, the dreams become more structured and the end-of-the-world scenarios became more planned out.

At first, these dreams terrified me, maybe even more than I've ever been scared in real life. As time went on, I became less and less scared of them. Eventually, I almost enjoy them for the story, although they are still scary. I have these sort of dreams all the time. Even in dreams that aren't as scary, there's usually some bad scenario which will probably end the world. I'm not worried about them anymore, but I am curious about what they are about. Why would my mind be so mean for no reason?

I am no expert, but I am wondering if there are some bad experiences stored in your brain that come out in your dreams. They do sound unusual to me.

You might talk to a therapist about the patterns that you observe in your dreams to see if there is a general theme.

Do you watch a lot of shows/movies/play games with those kinds of themes? That might be why you have so many memories of the scenarios of the end of the world, etc.

Hi Travelinglady, good question. Well, I used to play games when I was a teenager for awhile, but I never liked violence (even if I didn't admit it) and played games that were gentle. I also didn't like horror movies, although I've seen quite a few. I usually stay away from TV and movies, actually. And I haven't played games in years. Hmmm... I should mention it to a therapist, I think. I haven't found anyone else with these dreams before, so I was hoping someone else had them. They began at one of the more stressful times in my life. Also, as I got more stressed, I became more paranoid about something bad happening in real life, such as weather events and such. Maybe that fear carried into my dreams? Although that fear is gone now.
