Last year, in my "dreams" I was visited. It was a strange occurrence. I swear up and down that this is the truth and nothing but the truth. I had just woken up and I could tell it was still in the middle of the night, or at least before the sun has risen, and I was laying in bed. I suddenly felt pressure upon my chest and panicked. I tried to moved but I couldn't. I opened my eyes and saw a dark figure above me. Before I could scream, he gagged my mouth. He held me down where i couldn't move and then he choked me until I passed out due to lack of oxygen. I didn't wake up until that morning with my mum waking me for school. I awoke in a panic and told her all about it. There were no signs of anyone breaking into our home or into my room. She said it was just a night terror but I know other wise.
Now I have been visited by plenty of shadows before and after that, and though, several have been frightening, none had used any physical force that I know of. Until recently. I want to say, two weeks ago, I had a dream that I was just woken up by my mum for school but I couldn't see. When I opened my eyes, I only saw t.v snow/static. There was a horrible screaming sound in my ears that no one else could here and I couldn't speak. I tried to scream but opening my mouth became impossible. I couldn't move and I was stuck in one position. When I "awoke", I was in my room, in my bed instead of my sisters room in a bed that doesn't exist anymore. I was still in the exact position I was held in and the pain and the noise was still still present. Though I know there are facts that contradicts the last dream, it was real. I may have been dreaming, but it was happening. I believe I was in that state of being asleep but being aware of what was happening to me. The reason I think this is because during the "dream" I couldn't see but I had out-of-body experiences to where I could see my body being tortured. What do I do? |

Hi, ThePhantomPsycho143, and welcome to Psych Central! I encourage you to see your regular doctor about these dreams. I think night terrors can be treated. And you might be encouraged to talk to a therapist.
If someone is actually coming into your room, then maybe something can be done, such as putting a lock on your door. That would be an issue to talk to a therapist about, too, especially if your mom has no doubt that you're just dreaming. I hope these bad experiences will go away soon. ![]() |
