Sometimes I actually forget where I parked in public parking lots and can't find my car but I eventually do. In reoccurring dreams I get lost in huge parking lots like the ones at malls, grocery stores and colleges and I'm never able to find my car.

Last night in a dream I got lost in a huge grocery store parking lot and walked so much that I had to lie down in some grass. When I got up to continue looking for my car, I realized that I had lost my shoes too. I began to look for them and just gave up and started crying.

Some of the meds I take contribute to my crazy dreams. But these type of dreams make my anxiety worse. I dread going to sleep because of dreams like getting lost. I feel lost in my waking life and sometimes I don't see a way out. I know if my situation or frame of mind changed my dreams would change. But I don't which way to go, literally.

When I was really doped up with drugs, I had a time finding my car, too. Now I sometimes have to tell my husband where to find our car!

So, I agree with you that the vividness of the dreams is likely med-related and maybe even the difficulties with finding things.

I suggest you talk to your psychiatrist/therapist about how these dreams are making your anxiety worse to see if something can be done.
Thanks for this!

My father is tormented endlessly in his dreams by not being able to find his car and wandering around a parking lot. Sometimes he tries to call one of us for help, but then he pulls out his motorola razr and all of the buttons fall off of his phone.

I'm not sure what it means. It sounds like maybe you feel of being lost in life and this issue resurfaces in a different space for... what? To torment you? Haunt you that this is an issue that you need to resolve? Or remind you that this is a part of your person... I don't know.

Wow! I do the same thing as your father. I try calling someone on my cell phone but I can't find the right numbers, or this and that. I do that in a lot of dreams but I can never get through to anyone. It happens when I try to communicate with my family in real life but it's a lost cause.

Thanks!

Weird! What do you think it means? Do you think this is your subconsious telling you that communicating with your family is something you need to work on? I'm wondering if this is what my dad worries about?

Hi there Manxcatwoman,

Those dreams can be scary and worrysome. I too have been in similar dreams to that. In fact one year I went to Disneyworld and forgot what lot I was parked on and only until after the park had been closed an hour and most of the traffic left could I find my tiny little honda crx. I was really freaking out that I would never find it and kept beating myself up for not memorizing the lot I was on and their parking lots are for acres and acres of parking. I about cried when I finally found my car and got back on the road to my hotel.

You are not alone.

Much Peace,

I've also dreamed of trying to call my mother or father (both are deceased) but the phone won't work, or I dial the number wrong, or for some reason, am never able to get through. I tried dialing 911 in one dream, and that didn't work either.
