I am writing this on very little sleep as the dream I just had disturbed me so much that I don't want to go back to sleep.

I have regular dreams where I am battling a spirit entity or being harassed by one. These dreams are all lucid and I am able to control what I am doing. Sometimes I win against the entity, other times I am defeated. I have even been "killed" and woken up as I "died".
In this most recent one I was harassed by an entity in a strange house, I don't know what or who it was coming from, I just remember a crazy looking man with wild red hair. He was unique to this dream, though. The dreams are all different with no common theme except I am in battle against something otherworldly. Every time I wake up I feel the same: shaky, exhausted, hyper alert as though I haven't been asleep at all. This mornings one had made me so vulnerable I began to cry and I started to wonder if it was possible that spirits were really attacking me in the world of sleep or if these dreams are just symptoms of a fractured mind??

They are very different from my ordinary nightmares, because not all of them are nightmares. Like I said, in some of them I win, but when I wake up I feel like I have been in a punching match. My body is physically sore as though I have been awake and active.
Looking this up on the internet hasn't provided me with any answers as I either get overly religious advice ("Accept JESUS into your life and the demons will go away!") or conspiracy theories ("the aliens are invading your mind!").

Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?

You are battling an part of yourself. A way of feeling about yourself. Also look at what you have been battling in real life. In this dream you are transitioning out of the bad feelings. You are indeed healing.

Next time you have one of those dreams, ask the entity what it is and why it's there. Sometimes that can lead to answers.

Maybe the entities represent people you know or have known even if it's acquaintances. I have dreams of persecution on a regular basis. I think it has a lot to do with my self esteem and always feeling under attack by others.

A lot of people including therapists have said that I'm too sensitive. That could have something to do with your dreams too. Do you ever feel helpless like I do?
