I've been suffering from insomnia off and on for many years now. My mind is in constant chatter and it's difficult to quiet most nights. I've tried relaxing to Reiki meditation on my MP3 player many nights but only worked twice for me. I've tried hypnotherapy sounds and it helped distract my mind for a little while. I've listened to mellow sounds from nature, and pan-flute music to instrumental without any singing and it only helps for the first bit. I've taken many different types of sleep aids from herbal supplements to over the counter ones and only worked for one to two nights. I've tried white noise like a fan blowing and that does work if I keep my mind focused on background sounds and not my thoughts. But when I'm stressed, worried or something triggers my PTSD then I really struggle to get to sleep, or back to sleep. I've journaled out my thoughts but sometimes I don't want to get out of bed to do that.

I do see you have to keep changing things up to help induce sleep depending on mood and emotions. It would be nice to hear from others what they've done to help get back to sleep, or get to sleep.

Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Soulflower

Hi, Soul_flower43. I have to take Trazodone every night to help me sleep. I know certain meds such as Seroquel can really knock people out. Here's an article that might be helpful: http:/helpguide.org/life/sleep_tips.htm.

I hope you can start sleeping soon.
Thanks for this!
