I'm so tired but I still can't sleep. How many hours are just too long to not sleep? Thanks.

That's quite a lot. I hope that you are able to get some sleep some time soon. I suffer with depression. At its worst, it caused insomnia like that and I landed in the hospital. If you can, get some medical attention. Insomnia like that is debilitating....

I had that once before, although the following night I slept for close to 14 Hours (including 12 hours virtually uninterrupted).

Hey all thanks for the replies. I finally had some sleep after taking sleeping pill. I was diagnosed bipolar by 3 psychiatrists and I have stopped taking meds for 2 years. I'm still on denying that I don't have it I guess. I was just having a mixed episode.

My personal record is 10 days. It gets kinda weird after 3 or 4 days. Glad you got some. BTW I have absolutely no trouble sleeping now.
Thanks for this!

WOW that is a lot, although I can remember when I went to a multi-day music festival and "slept" in a tent for those few day not getting too much sleep during it, once I got home I completely crashed on my couch.

Seriously?? They have that? LOL... I don't want the record. Sunrises get old quick when you're dreading them

That sounds cool. Mine was a combo of anxiety, agitated depression, and maybe just some plain old insomnia. Most people don't even believe me I think. It does sound pretty out there but knowing someone went 12 days maybe makes it easier to believe. It isn't something I'm proud of

Thinking about war like what's happening in Gaza now, also triggers my insomnia. I feel so weird sometimes.

Longest I went was 5 days(somewhat drug induced), and then not much sleep for a couple days after...it certainly did get weird, and just got used by people I was hanging around.

But yeah if you're prescribed sleep meds those can certainly be helpful if you can't sleep, I am prescribed trazodone and 100mg of that will usually knock me out a while, kinda has a weird drowsy feeling in the morning, but I have coffee I can make so that helps that.

Not so sure what the longest someone can go without sleep is though. a lot of times I just barely get any sleep but still lay down and maybe get a couple hours which isn't very effective, and sometimes aside from the time I've mentioned I've gone a couple days with no sleep....haven't been up 5 days aside from that one time.

I took me forever to fall asleep last night but when I finally did I think a got enough sleep (probably around 6 hours or so) that I can at least function today. I think that if I get only a little bit of sleep (4 hours or less) than I think that I function worse than if I didn't get any sleep at all. Although I can still feel that I didn't get a full night sleep last night.

Yes it happened to me too. I felt so elevated and depressed at the same time today.

Taking advil helps me..... and I don't get suicidal but once I haven't slept for 30 hours, I just want to die! It feels like I'm being tortured and is one of the worst experiences. I don't know how it's possible to go 5 days without sleep.
Thanks for this!
