I just got my CPAP machine yesterday, and of course expected miracle results overnight. Sadly, I still woke up every couple hours. Is there anyone out there who has a CPAP? How long did it take to get used to it? Did it help?

Are the settings on the machine adjusted correctly? I would think it takes a while to get used to one of those things. I'm supposed to have one but refused it. Anyway, check the settings and give it a bit more time. Good Luck with it. I hope it helps you.
Thanks for this!

my h wears one. had to try several masks before he had a proper fit. He sleeps much better no snoring(THANK GOD) If it doesn't feel right call the company for help. My dad had one and there was a chip that showed how often he used it. Some insurance companies will not pay for the device if you are not using the recommended hours. CPAP may not help your sleep quality but it relieves the extra stress forced on your heart from the sleep apnea. So in the long run it can improve your health benefits and reduce risk factors .Good luck!
Thanks for this!

YES IT WILL WORK! It has made a night and day difference in my life. It only took a week to get used to the mask after I finally found the right one for me. Sometimes I still wake up to adjust the mask a couple of times a night, but I get much more restful sleep and I feel soooo much better than I used to. Just be sure to get the right mask for your face. I have to use the kid size nasal mask. The adult one needed to be adjusted way too tight so it wouldn't leak and that kept me from using my machine for years after I got it. Then I decided to give it a try again and make myself get used to the mask no matter what and I am SO GLAD I did!! I also have to use a chin strap to keep my mouth closed and it can get a little uncomfortable too but I just keep using it anyway because I feel so much better when I do. I definitely feel a big difference if I fall asleep without using my mask and chin strap.
Hope this helps you!

My mom and both my brothers use the CPAP machine and they say it helps and very low noise. My mom just got a night guard type replacement for the machine. She is sooooo happy not to have to use the machine any more. She said there was a brochure in the doctors office so she asked and luckily the insurance covered it. I don't know what its called though but it looks just like a night guard except there's a metal piece in the front. Hope this helps.
