I am suffering from many issues, the main one being Complex PTSD, but underlying this all - a symptom I think - is sleep issues.

I think in my case, sleep issues are not the problem - but are simply a symptom, or just further irritate symptoms.

I have an awful time falling asleep and an even worse time just wanting to try to sleep (I'm a little freaked out about it now).

Sometimes its a little better - on occasion.

And if I miss just one full night's sleep, I am a basket case!

Dr's have further identified a lack of REM sleep in my case. I seldom ever dream but used to when I was younger.

So I guess I'll finish by saying I sure am learning how important sleep is!
But have so much trouble right now getting myself to take care of myself, and just do more to promote good and regular sleep.

PTSD can raise havoc with your sleep patterns. Keep working with your Doctors on this. It seems like you are slowly healing.
Thanks for this!

I too suffer from PTSD and struggled with sleep for a long time. After trying many different medications and strictly following sleep hygiene practices I finally asked my GP for a sleep study. When I did sleep I had very graphic dreams even though my sleep study showed I had sleep apnea and only made it to the 2nd of the 5 sleep stages.
I started using a CPAP and a new medication, both of which helped me sleep better, but did nothing for my dreams. The only thing that has helped with the dreams is therapy. I will still have dreams but they are not every night.
Thanks for this!

Actually thank you all so much for your input and encouragement, but it is getting better.

I made quite a few changes to my routine recently. Let's hope the good progress continues.
