I've been depressed for a while and usually my dreams are vaguely anxious or straightforward nightmares. I sometimes have dreams about being in places from long ago, where I'm trying to reach destination but never quite get there, or where I'm leaving University and trying to pack up three years of belongings and not quite succeeding. I don't usually have emotions in my dreams, they are pictures and sounds.

Last night I dreamt I was walking round a town that I last visited about 15 years ago. Although I recognised the town it was very different to the place I knew before. It was a warm afternoon, with sunshine, the town was attractive, even though in real life it is just a tired little industrial town with some good stone buildings and a tiny little park by the town square. I walked down a long, wide cobbled street and at the end was a big hall where there was a craft fair. Instead of the normal stuff that I would like but not want to buy, there was some amazingly beautiful jewellery. I held and turned the pieces in my hands looking at the lustre and the light refracting from the gems, I could appreciate the beauty but I got no pleasure, all I felt was intense sadness. I left the craft fair and continued walking and all the time I felt the same suffocating pressure in my chest that I get with depression.

I am sorry to hear that you experienced the emotional distress and uncomforting thoughts in this dream.

May you find some peace tonight.

Take care.
Thanks for this!

The dream is telling you, that you are neglecting your own inner beauty.
Thanks for this!

That makes me sad to hear
Dreams should be interesting, fun, or a learning experience. I hope this gets better for you.

I like to think that our subconscious outsmarts us often. Everyone interprets dreams differently, to me, your mind is telling you to try new things and seek out enjoyment. You might find a passion where you least expect it (:
Thanks for this!

Interesting dream...maybe you feel like you don't deserve anything good but the thing is, it was sunny and it seems as though you were seeing color...Color is a signifcant thing in dreams as is bright sunny days...maybe you dreamt this dream because you feel like you didn't deserve anything beautiful in life..check it out...
Thanks for this!

Thank you, I find that an accurate observation, I could see the beauty of the world around me, but I was unable to connect with it and irl I am unable to connect to myself.

I always dream in colour, as a child I couldn't understand why dreams were colour but TV was black and white. I am having problems with my job and am convinced I don't deserve to find another good job, in fact I'm convinced I don't deserve anything nice. I often spend money when I'm down, buying nice stuff that I don't need in the hope it will give me pleasure, but because of my job situation I'm trying to save money so I'm not doing that as much right now.

Thank you, tonight I will try to remember some of the beautiful places I have visited and distract myself with the sounds and smells and images that brings. I do miss being able to get pleasure from nature and the countryside.

I'll start here.

Never been to Ireland, but Yorkshire is amazing too. Scotland is fantastic, and Wales, but I like my home the best - Yorkshire!
