Hi,
Since a couple of years my sleep gets worse. Normally I go to sleep at around 23:00, sometimes earlier. I have to get up at 7:00. First it started when waking up at around 6, then 5, 4, 3 etc. and I can't sleep for a couple of hours. Now it is even worse, I still fall asleep quite easily but sometimes I wake up after already 45 minutes, while during those 45 minutes I was deeply asleep. I try to skip medication some days and sometimes it's fine but last night again this pattern. Ultimately I took a seroquel 25mg at 1:00 am which knocks me out fast and easy. Last year I also tried neurofeedback for sleep and concentration, but it didnt seem to help (38 sessions).

Wow, you sound like me. I'm up every hour or two all night long. This has been going on for over two years.

My pdoc talked me into a sleep study, and it turns out I have severe sleep apnea! Hopefully treatment will keep me sleeping from now on.

Is there any way you can get a sleep study? Sleep is so important. If you can find a solution, it would be so great!

Hi,
I would like to have a sleep study, however at the moment I am into depression treatment and probably my sleeping problems are stress/depression/anxiety related. Do you snore? I have heard that people with sleap apnea snort a lot, is that right?
According to my wife I don't snort.

Yes, apparently I do snore. But a sleep study can also pick up other issues. Like, apparently I don't enter REM sleep for the first few hours, and my heart is racing while I'm sleeping. The clinic also offers CBT for sleep disorders, so they don't just test for sleep apnea.

I think you should go for it! I know how hellish it is being chronically sleep deprived. It's AWFUL. :-(

Hi Pearlys,
I too have sleep issues. I also sleep with a cpap machine. When I was in the hospital for surgery, i apparently stop breathing a couple of times and ended up doing sleep study. I still wake up from time to time during the night, i litterally sit up as if I had never fallen asleep. But my episodes comes in spells, almost in cycles, usually when the weather changes from season to season, , my sleep issues start. I wish you the best and hope you get the much needed rest you meed.

I can't believe. other people have this problem. I too wake up after about 3-4 hours of bad sleep. Tben I'm up for an hour or so wide awake sometimes and still tired but can't go back to sleep. It is making my life super tough by missing obligations and not havi g time to study so I dont get homework done. I feel like no one understands. They just think I'm making excuses for why I dont show up for things like church events it is nice to know that I'm not the only one. Although I dont wish this on n e 1. I also have sleep apnea and use s cpa machine. I think it needs adjusted but I will be getting a new one soon. Good luck everyone. Let me know if u find a solution and I will do the same.

Last night I had a good sleep, from 23-9. Waaaaauuuwww.. thats years ago that I slept so good without medication. Stress kills and I had a lot of stress the past couple of years. Now that I am able to rule out some stressing factors, I am feeling better.

I hope everyone eventually gets deep z's. I agree with the other poster that a sleep study would be crazy beneficial. Snoring doesn't always translate to sleep apnea but most of the time its related. Other issues can be seen and tested for, you would probably get your answer. Oh, and not taking some prescribed meds on a consistent schedule could mess up your sleep. My friend had that happen but I can't remember the name of the med..
Thanks for this!

I had sleep disorders, too. On top of that, had muscle spasms all over my back and neck causing lots of pain. no medicine ever worked for me. spent a year on physio and a few months on MRI scans and doctors. The most useful treatment I've heard from all of them was "STOP stressing out and go enjoy your life". and you know what, it helped) apparently I was pushing myself too hard for years to get high in work and studies. The thing is, sometimes we need to stop and look around. maybe we put too much stress onto ourselves. Hope it helps somebody

I am not stressing myself anymore, I dont work hard, my studies are behind me. But i get stressed anyway, by others. And I dont know how to either stand up for myself or just let it go.
Started zypreza today, 5mg first week, 10mg after that. Hope it will bring some peace inside me and therefore improve my sleep. Im completely lost lately. A couple of weeks ago my sleep was improving but since last week (after been put on dexamphetamine for a week) I couldnt sleep at all. So i quit that ****, still felt exhausted for a week. Now gradually I feel a bit better. Hope I can sleep tonight, will take a seroquel though.

Everyone has problems sleeping at times. We all have nights where we find it hard to fall asleep, find ourselves waking up in the night or have dreams that disturb our sleep. This is perfectly normal But Emotional issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression cause half of all sleeping problems our daytime habits, sleep routine, and physical health may also play a role. Try to identify all possible causes of your sleeping problems or sleeping disorders.

Thank you for these posts. I actually have a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, but I haven't been using it lately. I need to use it!!! then maybe I will be able to sleep better...good reminder.
