I studied dreams awhile back before I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Here it goes my dreams.

A dream about people you know.
I had a dream some time ago, it was about someone I know. It feels like a black and white movie done by Hitchcock. I broke this object on the head of the person I knew, it was breaking glass that shattered. The glass seemed almost the way hard candy is when you bite into it, it has a tendency to shatter and spread in the mouth, sometimes, your mouth will show evidence of candy being in the mouth. The candy can leave a color coating and scent that is sweet and sugary, and a few shattered tiny pieces left. It was like a glass house kind of. Similar to a glass house in a carnival but not quite. The dream I had I was mentally ill when I had it. I was much worst than I'am now. The dream was like a picture. The picture was abstract surreal. The story was nonfiction. The dream was a picture story. When I think of Hitchcock I think of the movie he did about birds and the one he did about psycho. When I think about my dream I think about Hitchcock's movies birds and psycho. The picture dream doesn't go anywhere, it's almost as if, it's a still dream picture.
The color or black and white didn't seem to matter in my dream. The dream was like a setting being filmed on scene in a certain setting. The setting might have been the atmosphere.

I did wake up in a panic, fear, and overwhelmed with emotions. Afterwards, I read the whole bible. I read the whole new testament. I said prayers. This is true.

What do you think this dream meant? I was in a state of delusion, hallucinations, psychosis?

I have dreams that I'm psychotic or on hallucinogens or other drugs even when i'm not on drugs or psychotic, so I don't know if it means anything.

dreams are nothing more then time fillers while your body is in maintenance mode. Some times dreams will make sense, other times they can be tossed salad. They mean very little.

I have to disagree with this post. Dreams have much meaning. Dreams is how our minds process our days experiences and our feelings about them. Also dreams are all about our feelings and personality.

I would caution any one who places too much in to a dreams meaning or "interpretation". They can be wonderful, terrible, or just nothing. The reason we sleep is for our body to repair any issues and prepare for the next day, a maintenance stop. While we are in this state, our body is paralyzed so we do not try to react to our dreams. Some times we break from that during sleep or get caught in the middle of consciousness and dream. There is nothing magical or mystical about any of this. Which is why I caution people of placing too much meaning to dreams. They could be playing out your day or they could be tossed salad. There may be some meaning to some of the parts of the dream and there may not be any meaning at all. There is no way to determine which. It is also a time our mind cleans up it's memory by disposing of some memory and re-ranking other memories. Which is also why we some times can not distinguish if our memory was real or a dream. There is no hidden meaning here, it's all very scientific

It is "scientific" and it is brain function. That is why we dream for a reason. Dreams are all about our feelings and how our minds process the days events, and parts of oneself. Dreams are a result of millions of years of evolution.

I am not talking about the Spiritual or Paranormal nature of dreams. I just being very "Scientific".

I too was being very scientific in regards to dreaming and what they are and what it consists of. It's basically a maintenance period for our body and mind and to keep us occupied while we are in this paralyzed state so we don't act out our dreams. The mind also uses this time as a memory dump period and reassigns new priorities to some memories and discards some. During this period we are kept occupied by dreams. There is absolutely NO scientific proof that dreams mean any thing. As it turns out however, if you want them to mean some thing, you can convince yourself they do. While we do know what dreams are and what happens, science can not explain WHY we need to dream. Because the body and mind can do everything it needs to do without dreams. I certainly do not fault anyone who thinks more of dreams then they are, after all the father of psychiatry Sigmond Fruad believed dreams mean some thing and analized dreams. Of course there are not too many psychiatrists these days that would agree with that

All I was trying to say was not to take them too seriously or try too hard to find some "meaning" that's all. Peace.

Many Doctors and Medical Professionals know that dreams are about or minds processing feelings and the days events. Also dreams are parts parties about one self. I had all this scientificly proven to me. Dreams are important. If You do not want to take your own dreams seriously, that is OK with me.

I agree with a lot of you that not much meaning should be taken from the content of dreams. Theyre not trying to TELL us something. No hidden meaning. Just brain processes.

Dreams are our minds telling us about our self and our feelings, and how we see our current situation in life. Dreams can help you understand yourself, and how you are feeling about yourself and situations you are dealing with.

i think some of us are going to have to agree to disagree. i have had dreams that have changed my life and were imo most definitely a reflection of my underlying feelings. i feel like this is why different people have very similar dreams when they are in similar situations.

best example i can think of is when people feel helpless in their waking life they will have dreams where they cannot not speak, or a dream that they are in a fight where they cannot summon any strength to defend themselves. ive had both and i know others who have.

if anything i think its probably both, they are there to preoccupy us during sleep, but also contain meaning. something influences or causes your brain processes to present what is in your dreams, i doubt it is randomness.
Thanks for this!
