The kind where you think reality is a dream and the dream is reality. It hasn't happened for a while but
Possible trigger:

I sometimes dream that his death was a dream and he is really still alive and we are still dealing with all the issues.

Has anyone else dealt with this.

I can't quite follow which one is the dream and which is the reality? Can you give some background of the reality of your relationship with your son's father?

the type of dream where you wake up and it takes you a while to realize it was a dream, because being awake feels like the dream.

While you are dreaming you think it is real and that his death was really just something you dreamed and now you are fighting and the bad stuff that happened it still happening.

I realize this is hard to follow, but I'm not sure how to explain it.

Possible trigger:

I managed to get myself help several years into our relationship, but we were too emeshed and continued the emotional kabuki dance. We also had a son together (currently 2 weeks away from his 22nd birthday).

Our relationship was very mutually destructive, and I have a lot of guilt about a lot of things.

Possible trigger:

One possibility is that some aspect of yourself, the "masculine within," in some way fits with your son's father. It's common that people are drawn to relationships with people who resonate with some aspect of themselves. When you dream he is still alive, you are dreaming about your relationship with the masculine within you. That's one theory.

When you wake up but it takes you a while to realize you aren't dreaming and the dream wasn't real. It's hard to explain and very unnerving.
