I've been having this issue for quite some time now. I'm on saphris, which usually puts me to sleep, and also Ativan on deck if I'm having sleep issues. Occasionally, maybe about twice a week, I end up waking up around 3ish-5ish. And can't fall back to sleep. Especially happens when I don't do much all day. It's tiring..
So when this does happen i might take a couple ativans along with 10mg melatonin. I believe the melatonin causes some wacky dreams, and I have experienced sleep paralysis on this, which is very frightening. I can't move, keep my eyes open. Remedies for waking up too early, not being able to fall back asleep? Experiences with melatonin? T.y. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I use melatonin regularly, and have less wacky dreams with it, never sleep paralysis. Have you tried it without ativan?

Yes. Ativan doesn't give me nightmares. Every time I use melatonin I have night terrors
I'm trying to stay away from it unless I can't get any sleep Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I take 1/4 mg of melatonin, that's 1/4 of a 1 mg pill. I take it an hour or two before bed. You will might need a prescription because they don't sell doses that small over the counter, but you might be able to get it online. It's cheap. It helps me sleep and doesn't give me dreams. 5 mgs gave me super intense dreams and 3 mgs made me wake up after a few hours.

I can only offer advice on the sleep paralysis, something I suffer from myself.
If you experience this again, and you reach that level where you are sort of aware that you are awake and know you are having paralysis, you can try directing your thoughts in a positive direction. Basically, go to your happy place. The lifelike dreams should start to take a more positive turn, and a few others I know have told me by doing this they can now pretty much control their dreams, and have wonderful vivid but pleasant dreams. I know its harder than it sounds like, Its a process that may take several tries before you get some sort of control. I hope you can use it ![]() |

I have weird dreams and weird sleep/wake sensations with Melatonin. It also leaves me very hung-over feeling. I don't take it for that reason.
