I am at a loss as to what to do.

I was on remeron for sleep aid but kept having nightmares and wasn't even sleeping well. I tossed and turned all night.

So we went off of it. I was manic a couple weeks ago so of course I was sleeping even less! Since then, even when I crashed...I still am not sleeping much! I get tired, exhausted even but I cant fall asleep/stay asleep.

I tried melatonin one night and it helped but my DBT coach was all lik telling me I need to talk to my pdoc first but Im desperate and don't seeher until January 6!!

Ive tried aromatherapy, relaxation, soft music etc

What should I ask for when I see pdoc to help with sleep? Not trazadone...gave me really bad nightmares.

Im miserable. I think its making moods worse!

Hi hallie. My sister uses melatonin every night for sleep. The issue might be a possible conflict with meds you are taking. You could put an emergency call to your pdoc telling them you are not sleeping and asking if melatonin would be okay with your current meds.

Sleeping is far too important to wait. If you cannot reach pdoc ask your pharmacist. They should be able to tell you about any problems with med interactions. Maybe that is simpler and a good first place to try.

Btw how did you sleep with the melatonin?

PM me if you care to also.

I slept ok with it. I tried calling yesterday she's gone for the week. I haven't slept well in well over a month maybe two. I think it's dragging my moods awry.

I don't want to buy it if she's not gonna let me take it. I have $5 to my name til January

Ugh sleeping issues and nightmares are the worst. I have a lot of trouble with sleep, so I really feel your pain!!

I have found that binaural beats work pretty good, if you can tolerate having headphones on while you sleep. Idk what phone you have, but I know there are several free apps in the Google play store, and there are probably apps in the itunes store as well. I want to get headphones that are like built into a headband or something -- that way it would be comfortable lol.

I used to take melatonin and it didn't really have much of an effect for me. My doctor told me that for it to actually work you need to have a build up of it in your system, aka you have to take it every day for a few weeks before it even starts to work. Idk if that's true for everyone, but it didn't do much for me either way.
