my sleep problems started slowly developing over the past 10 years and, they have just gotten worse. I'm wondering is it possible it's just conversion disorder? I'm confused as to why it would be because my symptoms have been slowly developing. I'm so scared of a conversion disorder diganosis I've been just dealing with my symptoms but they have gotten so worse these past few months. I have every symptom of narcolepsy including dreaming during naps and things like that. What should I do?

Hi,
HTML Code:
I have every symptom of narcolepsy including dreaming during naps
Your Main problem is probably napping between your usual sleep times. It quite normal to have dreams, usually bad dreams during nap as you don't go into deep sleep and so remember most dreams.
My guess is that boredom and monotony crept into your life. A new interest or or hobby may revive your zest for life.

Yeah but I also have nightmares night terrors hallucinations and sleep walking. How is that related to boredom? I also work 5 days a week, take care of a puppy, go to groups and read several books a month.

Hi,
It is probable that you have some sleep disorder. If you work and can read without going to sleep, you can be sure it is notnarcolepsy.
Nightmares and night terrors happen because you need to be woken for some reason. It maybe that you're allergic to some food, drink or medicine you eat, drink or take.
Psychological upsets or PTSD could be another cause of your bad dreams. The subconscious mind creates the dreams to solve a problem during sleep. So you or your doctor need to find the problem that causes the nightmares.
Dreams- be they ever so strange- have a structure. Very often the subconscious indicates the cause of the dream. If you care to post one or two of your nightmares it may give a clue to thecause.

I have nightmares about people chasing me, I have post apocalyptic dreams I have dreams about giant spiders and people dying. Last night I heard my mom talking and I'm not sure If I was in a R.E.M. Sleep but I saw her as an intruder and started screaming loudly. My mom got really scared because I didn't say anything I just started screaming.

My doctor refuses to even discuss my sleep problems. He would not even acknowledge the fact that I fell down the stairs and he refuses to do a sleep study. It's really odd. I saw him on Monday.

If your doctor is not doing what he needs to do to address these issues you must see a different doctor and make it clear that your sleep disturbances are your reason for seeing them.. For that doctor and that you need appropriate diagnosis/treatment. It is not uncommon to go through several doctors to get diagnosis due to various reasons on their end, but giving up and sticking with a useless doctor is not in your best interests. My sister went through 6 doctors before being diagnosed with PCOS even though her symtoms were clear (to me... She didnt know what it was but I thought pcos and low and behold the 6th doctor diagnosed it with a simple ultrasound that revealed cysts all over her ovaries...)
