My whole life I've had night terrors where I wake up panicked. As a child I would often wake up crying as well. It seemingly went away until this year. This week alone I have woken up 3 times just crying very intensely and it takes me a few minutes just to gather myself. Does anyone know what this is or what to do about it? I don't have PTSD or anything. I'm not anxious about anything. I don't feel sad or depressed. I just keep crying and can't seem to wake up happily or normal.

Night terrors are very common in childhood. The fear of abandonment by the mother is an ever present trigger, especially if the parents argue often. Another frequent cause is allergy to some foodstuff and childhood illnesses.
In adult life the subconscious often uses negative emotions as waking elements especially when there is stress and overwork/tiredness in the life of the sleeper.
The subconscious works mysteriously! sometimes when one feels on top of the world, the subconscious creates a waking dream that pulls you down a peg or two!
Have you heard the saying: "got out on the wrong side of the bed"- meaning: grumpy!
Don't take much notice of your dreams; they are dreamt to do a job whilst you sleep and should be forgotten on waking.
