For a while now I've been having these really gory and horrifying dreams. They often include torture, murder, suicide, exorcism/demon possession, etc, and always have violent spraying of blood at some point. And a lot of the time I can actually feel the pain. In the dreams I've had a man saw off my legs while I watched, i watched two toddlers drill out each other's eyes, I've had my brain stabbed through my nose with a drill, I'd go on but I'd be listing things forever. And there is ALWAYS a ridiculous, almost comical amount of blood flying everywhere. What is going on with me?? It's getting to the point where I'm scared to go to sleep, and I feel like having these types of dreams can't mean anything good for my mental health either.

Quote:
If youfeelpain during a dream it is likely that you have actual pain in the sleep. What medicines are you taking? Some psychedelic drugs cause extremely violent dreams. The reason you need violent dreams after taking some medicines is becase the drugs cause white noise (electromagnetic disturbance) in the brain to block the the problems the drug is prescribed for, however they also block or impede the messages and commands from your subconscious which vital to waking up. So the subconscious makes the dreams more vivid and more violent to cut through the noise in the brain. Imagine going into a noisy room, full of people, all talking at the same time! You naturally have to raise your voice so the person you're talking to can hear it. One of the main problems understanding the importance of dreams is that the subconscious that maintains life while we sleep is not considered and not understood. It is also possible that you're cutting yourself or scratching and trying to hurt yourself during sleep. |

wow, those are some intense dreams. I have had dreams similar to those, not a nightly occurrence. I love scary movies, some gore, mostly hauntings, exorcisms, real stories. I do not know what it is, I like the adrenaline rush it gives me, freaking myself out. I do know if I watch things like that throughout the week, give it a few days and I will most definitely dream something like that. You could just have a very active imagination. I'm not sure what those kinds of dreams do to the mental state of a person, but I wouldn't worry too much. I know when I have bizarre dreams I ask myself and others "What in the world is wrong with my brain?". But I do think it's just my wild imagination, and love for scary things.
