Dream of someone dying from alcohol poisoning

I had a dream that I was out somewhere with someone and the person I was with started to drink lots of alcohol despite me and other people telling her not to do so. I had a bad feeling that she would eventually pass out or even die from alcohol poisoning. Then it was time for me to leave and I left, and I was relieved to be gone and away from her.

Then it jumped to the next day where I find out that the same person had in fact, passed away later that day from alcohol poisoning. I was left with this feeling of regret that I didn't do something to stop it but at the same time, saw it coming and was not surprised it happened. The last bit of the dream was me just going back to the same place again and, though feeling bad that it happened, was glad I was not dealing with someone like that no more and was out of that situation.

Now, in real life I actually did have to deal with someone who is an alcoholic a little while back. I no longer hang out with her due to that but I did try to get her to stop. She has passed out several times at bars from what she told me. She will promise to not do it again but then eventually does it again. She refuses to stop or get help no matter who tells her to stop. So I'm sure this dream had something to do with it. In fact I woke up thinking, yep, that could happen if she doesn't stop and hopefully she does stop one day.

But I no longer hang out with her due to her alcoholism. And we weren't close either and was actually quite rude to me, which is another reason I don't hang out with her. I was just wondering if this dream was just simply about what could possibly happen in the future or if it was more of a representation of something else that had to do with the whole situation. I do hope she stops one day but that is up to her.
