I woke up in the night and thought I heard a squeaking in the house. I wasn't sure what it was. I do have mice but the sound seemed related to my movements. Then, I had what I think was a dream where I woke up and a bat just flew into me. I've always had issues at times with false awakenings, but this one is just too weird. I kept having these dreams all night where bats were flying into me.

Sometimes, in the past, I've had a tough time wondering with whether I was sleepwalking. This one is bugging me though, because what if it wasn't a dream..... then there'd be the whole rabies issue. There was another experience I had like this with the bat, but there wasn't one actually there.

The other thing that makes me think it was a dream is that if one was really in the house I'm sure I'd know.... and there was no way for it to get in. All the windows and all were closed. Plus, if it were real, I'm sure I would have been panicking not just continuing to doze. I hope it was a dream like the last time

I have suffered from sleep disorders on and off throughout my life (including insomnia and sleep paralysis issues) and it is not uncommon for me to have strange hallucinations upon waking that are difficult to distinguish from a dream. One that stands out is I remember waking up and seeing a huge (we're talking the size of a small dog) yellow fly in my curtains. It was so real I really thought it was there, but a moment later it was gone. If you've had issues in the past with false awakenings, sleep walking, etc it may just be that your brain gets caught in the transitional phases like mine does for longer than it should. Unless you start discovering bats living in your house during waking hours, I wouldn't worry about it.
Thanks for this!

I agree. No sign of them whatsoever. So, I'm pretty sure this was a dream. I've even checked in the attic just to make sure.

I get this too. I can't tell if something happend in broad daylight or if I was dreaming. I'm still trying to figure out if I told my therapist someone was now a size 4. I'm really torn between it really happening and being a dream. Like I think I remember telling her yesterday In our session, but now I can't remember who I was talking about or why. Also my mom told me someone was now a size 4, a year ago or 2. So I can't tell if what happened yesterday was a dream, or if maybe I was dealing with depersonalization or dissociation or something. It doesn't stress me out, I just really want to know if it was real or not!

I also see these huge spiders in my room at night. I can never find them when I turn on the light, and my mom says I'm dreaming, but one day I woke up covered in spider bites. So I don't think I'm totally dreaming.

Don't take 15 milligrams of melatonin though. I took 15 and had the worst case of sleep paralysis/ very vivid almost borderline nightmares that I've had probably all year. It was not fun.

Most likely a dream. Something in real life is driving you batty. What ideas are flying into to you, what are others saying to you, that seem like bats flying into you?
