I love to sleep but when I'm in an anxious state, the act of laying down and closing my eyes amps up the anxiety. Guessing it's because there are fewer distractions when your eyes are closed and bad thoughts come easier. I find it hard to stay asleep too so it's not very restful. It's just frustrating when you are trying to do something so simple that could provide relief and can't even manage that.

I find that mindfulness helps calm the mind. I have a different problem...staying asleep. Probably hormonal (I'm a 47 yo female). Hugs!

I've been having trouble sleeping too. Sometimes have a glass of wine to help.

Using a meditation CD one hour before bed, and help dampen the anxiety.
