There are times that we have to support others who are trying to quit. And there are some things that can be done to help your quitter become the winner you know s/he is.
For the sake of gender peace, I'll go back and forth between her and him. But, do remember, you need to support yourself with as much TLC too, if it's you who are the quitter.
Let's take a look, and see if you can add any yourself, ok?

Print out any helpful tips you see here and on other smoke cessation forums. Leave them around the house, for her to "discover" herself.
Don't nag, belittle or whine, for a lil bit. Give her/yourself space to be a lil bit "off" for a bit.

Get *little* rewards weekly for him.
He'll appreciate it,
and it's a great motivator.
Make them fun, serious,
or whatever *he* would most like.
For a serious anniversary,
You might indulge,

Have cold water available at *all* times for her.
Water helps flush out the nasty toxins faster.

Keep *lots* of low fat munchies on hand.
Keep them at arms reach in the fridge and in the cupboard.
Both of you will appreciate that! How to Support a Loved One -- Including Yourself!

Make or keep on hand
NUTRITIOUS foods to make for
breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And don't forget healthy snacks.

And have something like a gumby
for him or her to manipulate with his/her hands
while sitting watching tv or whatever.

Hope this is helpful!

Peace!
