It has been over 3 years since I quit smoking and I haven't ever felt that great feeling I have heard so much about. I have gained a ton of weight and struggled with depression. I feel sad because I had hopped that I would be doing better by now........maybe its just me but it has been a difficult experience. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Congratulations on quitting smoking! I watched it kill my husband and I wouldn't want it to take you too. You are doing wonderfully even if you don't realize it and I am very proud of you. I know it is hard to quit because I used to smoke. I get a good feeling every time I inhale clean fresh air or run and play with my grandkids. The feeling is there, you just have to look for it.

Try to change your perspective on it. The cigarette companies took your money, damaged your body and made you believe those nasty things made you feel good. THEY LIED and they did it for THE MONEY. Get pissed...I still think sometimes I want a cig, but I guarantee it will not make me happy. It will taste like I'm trying to kill myself. No doubt I was trying to, but NOT ANY MORE cause it is a slow painful way to die. No dignity there.

Hi, Vegasgal33. I'm not sure I felt that great feeling either, but I have enjoyed being free to enjoy things more, like going to the movie. I'm not always in a rush to get through something so I can have a cigarette. I quit 20 years ago.

I had to watch my mother die from COPD. She didn't quit soon enough.

Keep it up. You'll be glad you did.
