I cut down over the past year and way way down several mos. ago. It wasn't so hard to stop buying them. I get cravings still after almost 2 mos. of quitting but have a nicotene lozenge and it takes the craving away.

I started smoking again. Dr. prescribed 4 mg. nic lozenges that were too strong and I asked his office to prescribe a lower dose 3 times and they still haven't done it after many weeks and I could not take the strong nic lozenges-made me ill. So what do I do? Smoking again. When will this end!

Thanks, I know I will try again. Still waiting on the dr. I can't afford to buy those nicotine lozenges. They are something like 35.00.

I want to quit too, I have tried numerous times without success, I’ve heard the tablet is meant to be good, going to ask my doctor about it I think.

The only time I managed to quit smoking I did it cold turkey. Strangely, I felt a sense of duty and accomplishment while weaning myself off cigarettes, I haven't been able to recapture that ever since

i think cold turkey is the only way to give up smoking successfully, i gave up 11 years ago this way first month was hell though, i think that the hard part is not make your mind and give up but to stay away from nicotine for years, its hard not to smoke after periods of stress or joy,11 years and i still get cravings, i think the cravings will never go away......

Hi Lucy
I'm kind of in the same boat. Tried the gum and patches before and it didn't work. I'm guessing because the nicotine is still going into your system. I only quit cold turkey once and it didn't last. I was pregnant. I cared about my son. I need real reasons to quit. Someone once said to look after myself like I was a mother to myself. That's not helping. I think we need to get in a less stressful place mentally before quitting. Other times I quit I always tapered down to one or two cigs a day. I'm going to try that again soon when my life is settled a bit. Best wishes to you. |
