Thanks DocJohn!
Nicotine is a powerful drug and I've found it very hard to stop relying on it for relaxation and for stimulation... I had less trouble getting clean and sober than breaking this habit. After quitting for five years, I picked it up again __________________ The Most Dangerous Enemy Is The One In Your Head Telling You What You Do and Don't Deserve... |

Thanks so much, DocJohn!!!!
I'm really looking forward to meeting others here on this forum, who are going through the same troubles I'm going through with quitting this nicodemon! I quit for two years then relapsed for a year. Recently, I quit again for three months, and relapsed a few weeks ago. I am now on Chantix. I will NOT quit quitting until I beat this evil stick! So, lets all get together, sharing our experience, strength and hope; supporting each other. Tell our stories to each other. Help each other through the bad times and cheer each other through the good times. We CAN do this! I'll be posting some information for us all shortly. Remember, our quit is one day at a time. Peace! __________________ IMAGINE |

you are way ahead of me!...I put one out then I'm already planning when/where I'll smoke another one.
gee, sounds just like I was when I was drinking! anyone (*cough cough*) who stands outside smoking during a bad storm is an addict...not even the sirens going off made me head for cover. __________________ The Most Dangerous Enemy Is The One In Your Head Telling You What You Do and Don't Deserve... |

Thanks for having this support thread. Support is the best help for quitting. Nothing like hearing from others that are going through the same thing. Quitting is very difficult as anyone who tries knows, we need all the support we can get. Thank you again.

One thing is whenever i caught myself taking a smoke i ask myself: do i really need them, let me tell you it miinimized my smoking by 2/3. i am not as strong as my mother who just stopped smoking when she said that it was enough so im hoping if i get those electric smokes i get the puch i need to stop smoking the remaining 1/3 of my smokes |

I have quit using Chantix and I have quit cold turkey but I always go back to smoking. Usually it happens when I feel discouraged or stressed or just when I decide to have a glass of wine. Then I think I'll just have one or two and stop again but it doesn't work that way.
I have begun to realize that I become depressed after having been quit for about a month or so and I do feel better for a little while when I light up...but then I find myself back on the downhill slide to a pack a day and all the bad symptoms..aches, pains, cough etc. that goes along with that. I think that if I can possibly deal with the depression that I think is underlying the smoking addiction I may be able to quit for good. Any comments? |

Mine are just lethargy, overall feeling down, and unmotivated and uninterested in doing things. I also get bouts of anger and impatience which is not like me. |

Hi DocJohn, thanks for the welcome. I posted on the 20th of Sept. and have not had a reply. I'm not sure how to use this forum. Seems complicated. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I posted in smoking cessation because trying to quit again is my main issue right now.

I was diagnosied with copd four years ago and it has been stable, now my lungs are declining. My doctor is telling me that six months from now i will not be able to do what I am doing now. I have been smoking a pack a day but am having trouble with trying to quit. I know it is killing me but I keep lighting up!

I do know of several people who have found the e-cig to be very helpful in quitting. My husband and I tried them, though, and found they irritated our throats too badly to continue using them. __________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.
