Sometimes, I'll take on characteristics of another person (real or made up) or a character in a book because I don't like myself. It can be something like eating the foods they eat, or changing my handwriting. This mostly happened when I was a kid, but it still sometimes happen as an adult. Does anyone else do this? It's pretty clear to me that it's related to self esteem.

Can't say as I have. I do recall other posts where what you speak of was discussed. I am sure you are not alone.

Same here. I'll see myself trying to make my hair a certain way like someone I look up to that's famous, or try acting like they do, etc. etc.

Doesn't last for too long, but still.

I definitely understand.

If you love yourself while modeling other people you admire, it is what NLP teaches to be more successful in life.

So love yourself more. And you will be great!

How to do that?

Use mirror...and look at ur eyes in the mirror...and say positive words like "I feel good about myself (more & more everyday)"

P.S. Playing as self esteem games. Everytime u c a mirror, say this to yourself Enjoy it and you love yourself more ..

It may be a good idea to work on your self esteem, most therapists can help with this.
