I posted earlier to this post...but after reading others post on this....... I have got to thinking....who am I to judge others.... I do not like people judging me over my weight or my cutting...so who am I to judge others just by what they wear....thanks to everyone who posted on this....it really opened my eyes and changed my way of thinking BIG TIME

First, let me say that the woman I described is in her 70s perhaps? Did you judge her differently than you would now?

Second, regarding young women, preteens etc imo they need to be taught how to dress modestly, with self respect. They will learn the other ways from their peers.

I have found that, mainly because I have very bad vision w/out my glasses (and even w/my glasses on I am still very near-sighted) that I actually don't really see what people look like. I have a hard time putting names to faces - but I can tell who someone is by how they walk down the hallway, or the way they approach me when my back is turned, their voice... So I actually am probably one of the few people on earth who can honestly say that I don't judge people on their appearance, their clothes, how affluent or thuggish they appear... Now, if someone smells bad (be it body odor or heavy, floral perfumery) - that I do judge.

People who don't know me well get insulted when I don't automatically compliment their appearance or notice if they get a haircut or change something about themselves - but I can tell if someone is blue or angry or unusually cheerful just by 'feeling' them out.

Now, if anyone saw me in public, they'd just see a short, fat dumpy hedonistic woman wearing whatever was most comfortable for the temperature and occasion - and sandals w/no socks!

Sandals with no socks is good! Question for everyone

"Dumpy" by these standards: "dumpy (adjective) 1 : being short and thick in build" is also good. I happen to be "dumpy." LOL Sometimes I'm shabby, too, but I try hard to be comfortable without the "shabby." Question for everyone

i'm 62 and i wear jean short, tee shirts, necklaces, earrings..but i don't carry big white purses or wear sneakers. i wear sandals. i don't look my age, at all. however, i don't dress to draw attention to myself. i dress to be comfortable. my favourite shorts are khakis and twill ones......and linen ones.......lots of linen ones.

I think the key word that I disagree with here is JUDGE.

I prefer to think that I read peoples presentations of themselves.

That said, I admit I sometimes dress to uh....present a certain vibe....

OIC well, whatever word we use, it is a form of "judgment".. though many ppl do take offense at even the idea. )Forming opinions?(

I once wore a pj top to physical therapy, the PT even remarked what a nice top it was (soft, lacey, new) lol Then I told him I was in too much pain to hunt for a top to wear and grabbed the pj top! (You know, you can't wear just anything to be stretched in pt. sigh lol)

Silly - you don't wear pj's to the laundromat...
Everyone knows you're supposed to wear your significant others' boxers & the too-small t-shirt you accidentally turned pink & shrunk the last time you did laundry. And mismatched flip-flops.

Well if you have clean pj's,
why on earth would you need to
go to the laundromat in the first place? Question for everyone

I really think it depends on how "hot" she is. Ya' know? I mean, if she makes me jealous I'd be like "Oh! the nerve of that woman wearing those clothes!" and if she's not threatening to me I'd be like "Go ahead, girl!". Question for everyone I guess this makes me a catty woman. MEow?

I personally do not. when entering college they have a sexual abuse orientation. at that orientation the students are told it does not matter what a person is wearing. it does NOT mean the person is being flirty and wants sex let alone rape. They are also teaching this in jr high and high schools and anyone recieving the servises of a crisis center are also being told this. professionals - cops, doctors, mental health professionas and so on also go through extensive training so that they also understand clothing and so on does NOT mean the person is being flirty and wants sex. I was raped on more than one occasion by relatives, boyfriend and strangers wearing a variety of clothes depending on age and weather - a childs sleeper (the kind with feet and zipper), sweat pants and sweat shirt, a bathing suit, shorts and t shirt. and so on. The fact is that I could be lady godiva and that would not make it right for someone to rape me.

Therefore nothing I wear or others wear is considered flirty to me.

First, I'm sorry you were raped. Question for everyone
I wasn't implying that she deserved to get rape. I meant she looked so good, she's got a nerve wearing that because she's already taking up enough attention as is without wearing something so sexy on top of it. Nothing really mean either-it's more of an eyeball roll sort of thing.

I don't know if it was my post or somebody else's post you wrote that too but I in no way feel what a woman wears decides whether or not she "deserved" to be raped.
I'm 100% with you on that one.

Its ok

I know you weren't implying people deserve to be raped.

I was just explaining why I don't think of anyone I see out walking anywhere wearing the clothes the original persons post discribed as flirty.
