I posted this in the Music Therapy forum, but I know many do not look at the group forums, so I thought I'd post it here as well!

Listen to the song and look at the lyrics. The link is to a video that has the lyrics on it.

"Beautiful"- Christina Aguilera

(Don't look at me)

Every day is so wonderful
Then suddenly, it's hard to breathe
Now and then, I get insecure
From all the pain, I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down... Oh no
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The pieces gone, left the puzzle undone
That's the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh, no
So don't you bring me down today...

No matter what we do
(no matter what we do)
No matter what we say
(no matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune
Full of beautiful mistakes

And everywhere we go
(and everywhere we go)
The sun will always shine
(sun will always shine)
And tomorrow we might wake on the other side

We are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words won't bring us down
We are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring us down, oh, no
So don't you bring me down today

Oh, yeah, don't you bring me down today, yeah
Don't you bring me down ooh... today

Now on a small piece of paper or a note card, write the following three statements.

1. My name is _______________.
2. One thing I really love about myself is ______________.
3. One thing I am really good at is _______________.

We can be our own worst critics. When you are being really hard on yourself, read these statements out loud. Keep them somewhere that you can get to them easily like in your wallet or by your mirror. If you keep them by your mirror, you can say them to yourself at the start and finish of every day.

Hope everyone enjoys this activity!

Hi BatsandButterflies! I love that song! The first time I heard it, I cried! There is another song called "Beautiful" by MercyMe that sends the same message. Have you ever heard it? Thank you for all of your positive encouragement and support!
