For many, like myself, who are dissatisfied with their body, and severely depressed cause they have made efforts to change what they dislike, but could not get there....)--{i.e. could never attain "a bodybuilder look like Ronnie Coleman, (worked out 4 years, took supplements, even did 2 cycles of steroids-bad mistake)-Google images if do not know him; could never thicken hair.....many guys have it naturally!}

Our self esteem is predetermined for us! I know the drill...personality counts and focus on good qualities...but when you loathe yourself..that can be difficult, if not impossible!

In fairness, IF..prior to birth--we could choose our features......Hmmmmmmmm?????

That's an interesting idea. Though I enjoy to "work with what I got"
I am sorry you feel so badly about yourself, but I think we are all beautiful!

Hi Jimmy, you already know where I'm coming from so I'll step out of this thread after just dropping you in another link.........
The muscles you wanted, something like...........(and just read from the top of the page!!):
T NATION | Top 5 Ugliest Bodybuilders
In my eyes at least, perhaps a good thing you didn't choose your features , including carrying on with the steroids it would have taken!!
And self esteem.........I'd say a lot of the time things aren't going to be "set in stone", it can sometimes be seriously hard to turn things around, it can take everything you've got, sometimes things don't completely go away, but reaching out like you are well that's a big step.
And considering it's some of the experiences you've had that have contributed a lot to it all, well maybe not that predetermined (?), and maybe things to work on/with there
OK, sorry I was only going to drop you a link!!

Coach's Mind Eye: "I am afraid of looking bulky"-My two cents.

I wrote that piece a few weeks ago.

When reading about one of my disorder, BPD, they say some people are bore very sensitive and not as emotionally resilient then coupled with a un-nurturing environment can be a cause.

Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.
