Wanted to share this little breakthrough I had with myself today.

To give you the background, I don't have legs that are considered attractive (by myself or just general opinion) - my knees stick out, they are knobbly a bit short (like me!), my calves bulge a bit and my knees are often bruised through my job. I never liked to wear skirts or dresses for this reason and the ones I do wear are well below the knee - I would also not wear shorts when running even if it was hot weather.

It's been hot this last week so I wore my shorts when running, just thought I don't care anymore what I look like I need to be cool. It felt better, and the world didn't scream (or even notice) at my lumpy bumpy legs.

So today I was in a charity shop and saw this really nice second hand summery dress, it was a good make and so cheap (would have been too expensive for me when new). Tried it on, couldn't help but look critically at my legs and then thought "You know what, I really like this dress, I don't care if my legs aren't perfect - they never will be - I will get myself this dress anyway". So now I have this dress which was probably £50 new and cost me £5 (to charity) and I love it.

It was only a dress and maybe this sounds like a non-story but I'm sharing it hear because it represented so much more than just a dress to me. It was a moment of self-acceptance, bumpy knees and all, the legs haven't changed but my attitude towards myself certainly has. I think it's little moments like these where we know we are making progress.

PS Going to wear this dress next weekend when I go to the theatre with my husband.

Hi prefab

Massive
congratulations on the big breakthrough!!!

As you know legs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and I'm sure there are people out there with far, far more "lumpy, bumpy" legs than you wearing similar things/dresses with pride, and just as with the shorts the world doesn't scream or even notice some lumps/bumps, so you wear that dress with confidence and pride, hey??!! You have every right to!!! And I'm sure it/you will look great

And AGAIN...........Massive congratulations on the big breakthrough!!!
