does anyone feel they need to accomplish things in order to feel loved...I'm 19 and feeling like I have to accomplish the world...Right now I feel like I just want a simple life. I dunno I guess because I don't have kids I don't undertand the need for money...I guess I feel like I don't want to own my own company or anything like that...I think i want to be a librarian and meet the man of my dreams and maybe by the time I'm 27 have kids...I don't feel that I need to be at the top end of everything...I just want to enjoy the ride...learn new things...I guess I don't understand why people kill each other (not literally) over finding hapiness in big ways...I find the simple things in life to be enjoyable...I don't want to compete with others...who owns more cars...who's been around the world...who has a better husband...why can't we just be content with what good things we have in life??

there are many ways to enjoy life simply for us oasis... we can enjoy the Earth around us, the beauty in nature or kindness.. we can walk, talk, sing, laugh, love, feel, hope, pray, and care... we can listen, respond, try, learn, taste, smell and think...

we can look at the sky, we can look at the stars, we can count the blades of grass..

we can think good thoughts, we can help a friend, we can enjoy others laughter, we can watch a butterfly...

we can read a book, draw pictures, tell a story to a friend...

sometimes we are sad and we look for ways to mend.. spending is not always mending

thanks for this reply and I understand where you are coming from...I guess I just feel that I am not mature enough yet to know everything I want I guess...I guess I feel that all my friends are farther ahead...and I'm just falling behind. My bf is very competative and I guess it gets to me. I'm worried that he will see that I am not good enough and that I don't try hard enough...I'm afraid that he will think I'm not as intelligent or interesting...I try really hard but...I just can't find what I want

part of the problem seems to be that we're a society driven to always want "MORE"... so we're never really happy with where we're at... there's always someone else to look up to, someone else who has something we want...

But I understand. I just wanted to let you know I moved this thread to Self Esteem, because a large part of it IS about that...

I think if you can be happy with where you're at, even for a while that its a good thing.
