Just watching TV Sunday Morning and they showed Suzanne Vega.
The song Luka was "my song" back when I was a teen.
It fit what I saw when my father would beat my brother and slam him against the wall. I would listen to my brother stop argueing and how he would tell the boys at school he fell or something else. He would turn it into a story that kept him from looking like anything except what it was. Abuse.

ugggg is right.

It must have been tough for you also, as well as for your brother.

to you both-

It's VERY hard being one that helplessly witnessed abuse and was too young or fearful, or confused, or numb struck to say/do a thing.

I often find myself wishing my mother would have hit me more instead of the tiny daycare toddlers she picked to take her anger out on. those tiny cries haunt the night(in my dreams), the TV(when I hear a baby cry) the stores (when I hear a baby cry)......
triggers...

hope you find some peace today.

(((((((( fins )))))))) thank you so much for sharing. I hope you have peace today too. It is a blue sky and I decided to make myself work in the yard a bit. So now I have some seeds planted. We might not have been able to help those innocent who were hurt ... but maybe now we can help the innocent heal?

You are wise. thank you. (I have to work on NOT holding myself responsible to heal ALL the innocent-- I so want to be rid of the guilt of not protecting in the first place... ugggg... those tiny cries .....)

Sending you gentle hugs and loving thoughts. Always. Watching abuse is hard and I am sorry you had to witness this and that your brother had to go through it. I understand so much and maybe more than I can really face right now. For I know what you are talking about and it is hard. Please know that we care and are here for you. Thank you for sharing as I am sure that was so hard.
