She was 16. Vulnerable. Young for her age and inexperienced.

He was older, a priest, in a trusted role.

He told her she was special.
He held her.
He kissed her. Not a pastoral kiss.

She cried out, ran from his house. Told only one person.

He told her she was wrong. She had misunderstood.

She believed him.

She never trusted people who told her she was special. She didn't want to be special. She knew she was not special, because she didn't understand what special meant.

Wow.... Feel free to PM if you want. I have some experience, unfortunately, in recovery from clergy abuse.

I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Yeah, I guess somebody telling you that you're special will never feel the way it should for you. I'm really sad for you about that. I hope you someday understand that you are special but not in that icky negative way he made it seem.
That person you told was in some serious denial. Afterall, the priest was supposed to be a trusted figure in the community.
Nobody wants their world to crumble. Picking up the pieces is way too much responsibility and controversal. Unfortuneately.
Perhaps you believed that person because you needed to at the time. Too afraid to muddy the calm waters. Not strong enough to either. Too young and not trusting of yourself.
I'm sorry that person wasn't there for you.

thank you Jax. What you say rings true in terms of my feelings at the time and the whole stuff.
Not able to fight the ickiness right now.
Feeling scared and lost.

I hope you don't feel scared and lost for too much longer. It'll be a better day soon. Special
