((((((suzzie)))))) I live with a constant fear, although I know what I'm afraid of. Mental illness, not my own........but someone very close to me. I wish I could wrap you in a hug and make it go away. Are you talking to a therapist?

I have fear...sometimes rational, sometimes irrational. Any idea what is triggering this for you? Sometimes I repeat a mantra in my head...I am safe, I am safe....

I lived in fear. Nothing traumatic ever happened to me so I couldn't trace it to anything either. From what you have shared here before, though Suzzy, sharing the things that happened to you in therapy at some point, will help you to release this fear.

I didn't have anything specific to share in therapy but I released my feelings, practiced relaxation and when I would get fearful I would tell myself in that moment that this fear is coming from the past and the past is not here with me. I would then focus on the present and notice everything that was good with the present and then practice that relaxation. I really rewired my nervous system, I swear!

I also remember that maybe you aren't all that safe in your present? You are around someone now who isn't nice to you? THis would keep you on alert and raise your fear.
