Thanks so much.
You know, I've been a physical survivor for over 20 years, but mentally and emotionally I, in parts of me, was completely and totally still a victim in shackles of fear through flashbacks, stuck in time, memories...you name it. For the first time I feel that I, in NO way, am a victim to one person left on this earth. It can't be taken away from me, nor will I ever give it away. What a freeing, amazing thought...yet strange and foriegn. Much love and respect to all of us who are seeking, healing, and working on the issues that have us bound in any form. kd

Most triumphant!!! And so well done kimmydawn. You are such an inspiration for so many people, including me, and I really appreciate how honest you are with your feelings (I denied mine for so long -- ugh) We can all survive together, and that cannot be taken from us.

you know, I sort of look up to KD.
She is a survivor, and yet she has a wonderful family life. Perhaps it is like a little bit of proof that I can get there too. |

We ALL can achieve, in our own levels and time. So much was compartmentalized away from me. I was able to function fairly "normally" because of it for quite a while. It started falling apart, though. Seeking help quickly, saved my quality of life...period.
The perfect actress? That was me...with many costumes. They became frayed and worn all too soon. The many roles have been combined into the role of a lifetime! One I feel that I can master. After all, it was me that acquired said role.  It's amazing that a tearing apart (through therapy) can build something beyond comprehension through insight and understanding. First and foremost I am a survivor...dedicated to other survivors...my true family. With respect, KD

Wow Kimmy -- it sounds like you are at a very good place now.
To me-- saying that one is a survivor, says that one is at peace with themselves and is going forward with their life in as healing/positive way as they know how. I can very much relate to "the perfect actress"....... I'm still doing it a lot of times.....  .......it's so hard to get out of it when, that's the only way to feel safe.I think it's great that you have "broken free"-- if I may word it that way  (least that's how it feels to me-- trapped behind the steel shadows of the past)Thanks for sharing. with admiration, mandy |
