Doesnt it sound like a great idea??? its time WE come out of the closet of shame and shout to the world that we survived abuse!

How can we get this started? like a gay pride parade. In your ****in face abusers!! Im here and I am not silent. I am not afraid. I am not ashamed.

any ideas about how this can be done, or if there is one already???
Thanks for this!

This sounds like a good idea. It could help a lot of people. The first march should be outside the court house of Jerry Sandusky's trial.

I really respect people who can do this and I have the strong need to do something political and make meaning out of all the bullsh*t (is there some kind of rule about cussing on here). But the idea of being "out" scares the bejesus out of me!

It took me a while to be able to get over the secret shame i was living with.
I dont mind telling people I was raped by my father as a child and as an adult just a few years ago.
It was hard to get it in my head that he is never gonna be the dad i needed.
Reality never lives up to fantasy and the hope that he was all better, is what got me in the situation to trust him, and thats when he raped me.

it is scary at first, but once you let go of that, you will be freed.

anyway i got off topic... i wanna know more about everyone's feelings about a demonstration/march to break the toxic silence.

we need to break the silence. it will help not only survivors, but will empower young kids to be able to speak out too!!! hopefully even prevent abuse.

Ideas??March for Abuse Survivors!!!

Sorry--think I started the off-topic-ness but I appreciate the response!

I don't know how you guys feel about
but I think she's pretty amazing. She has a sense of humor and life that's really inspiring. Movie screening?

No worries about going off topic... I was wrong to say that about me going off topic. No rules about that on my thread. say whatever you wanna say!!
This is about speaking out so let's all speak out! Say whatever!!

Oh I just got chills from reading just the first paragraph on Angela Shelton on wikipedia. thats awesome. very inspiring strong woman.
I hope we can all recover to such a degree.

My ultimate plan regarding my experiences going through physical abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape.... is to speak out at school assemblies and to girls and boys in juvenille hall.

That is gonna be so awesome!!

thank you for sharing the link to angela shelton. havent heard of her til now.
Thanks for this!
