People always tell me that is not my fault. That doesn'y make it go away though. No matter how many times someone says it, I think it is my fault. I could have said no. I was scared and to stupid too. I could have tried to avoid the situtation altogether. It is one of the worst feelings!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so mad at myslef.

Everyone does the best they can at the time. I wish I'd told... I wish I'd said no. But I did what I did... and what I believed was right for me and I have to respect that little girl I was for surviving that hell... even if I would have prefered she/I did it another way.

It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! ---"Address before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society". Abraham Lincoln Online. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. September 30, 1859. |

People keep telling you it is not your fault, because it isn’t. It won’t make it go away, no… But you need to acknowledge that you were not the one to abuse. There are many, many ways to say “no”. It doesn’t have to be verbally. They clearly knew that you were not willing, but that did not make them stop. THEY are in the wrong here. Not you.
Also, you were not too stupid, just young, innocent, trusting maybe. The fault should not to lie at your feet, but those who took advantage of what they clearly knew to be wrong. |

That is true. I never though of it like that. I can look back and want to change something but when you are in the situtation it is different. Thank you.

You are not the author of what happened to you. That was somebody else's doing. If you read a book and it affected you emotionally, you wouldn't try to take credit for the book, would you? So why would you want to take credit for bad things that happened to you that were designed by someone else?
On one side, maybe it seems like if you could have done something, then you have power and can keep it from happening again. But you don't have to accept the blame in order to give yourself the power. I'm not familiar with your specific situation, but I am positive that if you could have done something, you would have. Now you are in a better position to protect yourself. You can't control what happened in the past. It's there already. But you can control the present and the future to a much greater degree.
