A few weeks ago I remembered some incidents of abuse by a family member that happened in my childhood. I have been processing it with my therapist but I haven't been able to tell her who it is, I feel like I can't. Basically I would like some feedback/support around the issue of telling my therapist who it is. I am a little nervous about revealing more details on this thread so if anyone works in the mental health field could PM me maybe I could explain more? I just really want to know if my therapist can do anything once she knows who it is.
Thanks guys. ![]()

You do not have to say who if you don't want to. Not ever.
If you are still in or very likely will again be in danger, t might encourage reporting to authorities, but could not force you to. The best way to know what t will do is to ask. Just ask t very frankly and see what the response is. I hope it goes well. You're being very brave. ![]() |
