A few weeks ago I remembered some incidents of abuse by a family member that happened in my childhood. I have been processing it with my therapist but I haven't been able to tell her who it is, I feel like I can't. Basically I would like some feedback/support around the issue of telling my therapist who it is. I am a little nervous about revealing more details on this thread so if anyone works in the mental health field could PM me maybe I could explain more? I just really want to know if my therapist can do anything once she knows who it is.

Thanks guys.

You do not have to say who if you don't want to. Not ever.
If you are still in or very likely will again be in danger, t might encourage reporting to authorities, but could not force you to.
The best way to know what t will do is to ask. Just ask t very frankly and see what the response is.
I hope it goes well. You're being very brave.
Thanks for this!
