Hello, I'm trying to find some stuff to help cope and deal with emotional abuse. I had self absorbed parents who neglected me a lot when I was a child. My mom also would humiliate me in front of guests and relatives. My parents didn't meet my needs at all and I have trouble with my relationships now that I'm an adult.
I was wondering how to go about getting help. I don't make a lot of money so I can't afford therapy at the moment. I've read some good books on the subject but now really think I should talk to people about it. Thanks |

I don't have anything but I'd be very interested in anything you dig up. Sorry I couldn't help more but I'll keep my eyes open for stuff.

Hello. I suffer just as you do. These web forums are a huge help. As you already stated, self help books and the internet has a wealth of resources. You are already on the right path by being here to seek answers. You will need to start opening up to others which can be difficult for myself. Understand the power of verbally talking about your issues to someone else, even if that person doesn't have any answers.
If you arent already, start exercising. Start off by walking, and slowly get into jogging. You may also consider learning meditation Last but not least, you can always rely on a pen and peice of paper. Writing down your problems and thoughts is almost as good as discussing them with others. Don't worry about grammar or spelling as you are not publishing a novel. Just get those thoughts out! |

Thanks. Yeah I've started talking to people more and that really does help. A lot of it is just being patient and letting things unfold. Thanks again
