I agreed to have a piece of art publically displayed in Ft. Lauderdale for Sexual Assault Awareness Month... and it will have my real name on it. I'm kinda panicked, but also kinda relieved. I keep reminding myself it wasn't my fault, so here's a step towards saying that out loud, knowing that I shouldn't be ashamed of it...
(I may regret this some day, but I may not)

Thanks for this!

Congratulations! Years ago, I was invited to do an art show with other women survivors of abuse, and it was a scary and uncomfortable thing for me to do, but also empowering. IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. We had a guest book at our exhibit, and the affirmations from those who viewed the art were very healing. Speaking the truth through your art can be very powerful. I think you would be more likely to regret not doing it. Hugs

Congratulations! That is exciting, and a very very strong thing for you to do.
That's the kind of strength that's so inspiring. I'm inspired.

Congratulations! That takes strength and shows you've come a long way in your healing journey! Definitely not your fault, not even one tiny bit. The only shame in the situation belongs squarely on the shoulders of your abuser(s). Celebrate your strength and courage!

it was weird seeing the exhibit. I went with my wife a few weeks ago, and it ended up being pretty triggering. all the piecces were really powerful... it stirred up a lot. and I didn't recognize my piece (didn't connect to it) when I was there. very weird... but it was good too. just weird.
