I am so frustrated. I have spent the last 15 years of my career being the one who could always find anything on the internet. And I have come up completely empty in trying to to find help.
Please...any of you who have advice, please share. I am frustrated and feel alone. There has got to be somewhere I can go for what I need. I am divorcing my abuser. We have face to face settlement negotiations in 2 short weeks. And I am TERRIFIED. I need a coach, a friend, somebody to help me through the next 2 weeks so I am not a complete mess when the time comes. I do have a lawyer, and I have a therapist. But I am going to be out of town visiting family for the next week so I can't see my therapist, and I will be working too much once I get back to see her more than maybe once. And my lawyer doesn't seem to understand. Not that I can afford $300 an hour for someone to hold my hand anyway. I am already so far in debt, and have lost nearly everything financially. I already have anxiety and depression. I need someone who can hold my hand, even if its just online through emails, for the next 2 weeks to help prepare me and get me through this. Is there somewhere, anywhere, I can find a mentor or coach or somebody to help me? Local agencies will only talk to me face to face, which doesn't work when I am either out of town or at work during business hours. The town I am going to next week won't help me because I live in a different county. I do not want to be in this state of panic for 2 whole weeks. Please, is there anybody out there who can help walk me through this process? |

If you are in the us, you can also contact a local domestic violence clinic for extra support. The one I worked would send counselors with clients to court, hearings, etc. I'm not sure if all off the centers offer that, but all of the ones in our network did. We also saw clients as needed and did phone support. I'm hoping other regions offer similar services.
The forums are also a good support. If you are on fb, you could probably find a page for dv support (I'm on one for women with ptsd, and many dv victims are on it. It's good for in the moment support at any time of day or night because it's international). (Gentle hugs) we are here for you too. |
