So I haven't talked to my father in a little over a year. This past Tuesday I met with a hemotologist. And found out I have a type of leukemia. Now all of a sudden today at my grandma's thanksgiving he wants to talk to me. He even asks me how I'm doing. Really after trying to run me over last year you really care how I'm doing? I'm so confused. Is this just because I'm ill? Is that the only reason for reconciling? Do you really even care? How can I even trust you to tell you how I'm really doing? I just don't understand. What do I do?

I am so sorry to hear your diagnosis. You need to follow your heart in this one. If you want a relationship with your father then talk with him about the things that are upsetting you. otherwise, do what you want to do.

I think it's complex to try to understand if it's caring or just not caring in ideal ways. Obviously trying to harm wasn't a loving behavior, and naturally to trust that 'any' emotions exist is suspect.
You're still related, but it'll never be the same relationship it once was. Making for a bittersweet feeling, imo. Sorry to hear about your illness. ![]() Sent from my LGMS323 using Tapatalk |
