As part of my job working in a library I make displays. This week I am exercising my emotional masochism again and making a display for White Ribbon Day.

It has been emotionally draining but the response has surprised me.
Some kids decided to help with it, one of the teachers notified me of some young girls who have been using culture as an excuse for being violent and thanked me for the messages I have put up, and another teacher told me her story of being beaten by her husband and is getting some girls together to do a fundraiser and events.

I was just making a display because one needed to be done and this was a good cause. It seems like it is going to become a whole lot bigger

Things to keep in mind when interacting with me:
1. Do not try to medicate me. I am not on medication for a very good reason.
2. I don't do hugs.
3. If I ask for help, it is because I am at the breaking point, otherwise I have a bad habit of keeping quiet. Please do not brush me off.

As6865, that is tremendously brave of you to do what had to be done even though it was painful for you.

And look you are not alone. It is as if by one person speaking out, everyone who has known abuse is empowered to tell their story.

Thanks for empowering those people. That is how the world becomes a better place one person at a time.

OMG OMG OMG. So, news.

The teacher I mentioned above has been talking to some girls in the feminist club about making posters and maybe making an event.

She came by today with posters and told me there is not enough time to plan an event. BUT, she spoke to the vice principal and she has not only promised us an assembly and forum next year, she is considering making it part of the curriculum next year in Health and Human Development
