Severe depression all day
severe moods suddenly
man in black trench coat in the dark under a street lamp; memory or dream?
large "8 leggeds", black, hairy - 5 on the wall, large as my hands; memory or dream?
fear; then unusual calm. drop in heart rate.

I don't understand.

I'm sorry. It sounds sad and very scary. The light will start coming back in a couple of days. It's kind of amazing that we manage to make it through the dark times every year. I'm thinking of you and I'll light a candle.
Thanks for this!

I know it's not much but I like to remind myself that the solstice is the shortest day and so it only gets longer from here. Think about it…every day from now until June 21st will be longer and longer. Hang in there!
Thanks for this!

I don't know how people survived winter before electricity and lights. I need to exercise, do my volunteer work, my work work, and finish laundry. Even just wash face for the night. But going to bed instead.

It's an awful time of year. Keep replaying bad things in my mind and comparing how others cope better in life. All so ugly when it's dark.

Something which helps me in the darkness:

Behind the blackness, beyond the clouds, the stars are shining. They are always there, seen or unseen, noticed or unnoticed, pinpoints of brightness cutting through the dark. They continue to shine and when we get the chance, we can look up into a clear sky and relax into their beauty. Even when the clouds hide them, the stars are constant in their silver light.

I live in the Pennine hills, in the north of England, and because there is little artificial light we can see many, many stars - even the Milky Way, sometimes. I like to think about the way the stars are always there, whether or not I am bothering to consider them, and for me the metaphor of constant light, only temporarily hidden, is very reassuring.

I hope this is helpful, if not please forgive me for wittering on.
