Okay, so my bestfriend(she's a girl) dated this guy about 2 years ago. During that time I started to notice that something was up with her. She was waking up in the middle of the night texting me, she would seem kinda panicky at times and just didn't seem like herself. She told me that she was having these horrific nightmares about a "random guy" raping her then killing her. As soon as she told me that my stomach dropped. I knew that the "random guy" was her boyfriend. I finally got her to tell me the truth, and when she did she revealed something to me. She said that he would periodically take her somewhere and force her to give him sexual desires. I know that this is true because I saw the bruises on her. She finally left him, but the worst still wasn't over. For still had nightmares every single time she would fall asleep. I told her parents after some time because they wouldn't stop. She went to therapists, and was told that she had ptsd. It's been over two years now and she is still having these nightmares. But now they shift to how they are. Sometimes they can be super realistic or just more laid back. However, now they're more violent like her head getting bashed into a wall multiple times... Can anyone please help me? I want to do something for her, anything at all. She's my bestfriend and I hate not being able to do something about it. Also she has gone to psychiaticwards, taken anti-depressants, and sleeping pills, but none has worked. It just seems like the doctors and her parents have given up... She has self-harmed before over this, she's been clean for awhile but keeps almost relapsing. I just really want to help my friend so please even if you don't have a sure fire way to stop the problem even your opinion would help. Anything at all

-Thank you so much

Is there a sexual assault center or non-profit in your area? They have the expertise to help someone through this. Also, a domestic violence advocate will be able to help. Look up women's shelter for a resource and start there, or a crisis line—not with psychiatrists and doctors, but with women who are trained to specifically help something through this kind of trauma.
