It's been a pretty awful few months. These past couple of weeks especially. I feel trapped, hopeless, powerless, like I can't breathe, and abandoned. I could probably put this post in many of the other forums (depression, PTSD, etc), but my T keeps telling me that these are all "old" feelings. I can't really see why that distinction is important. Ok, I can recognize that these are the same feelings I felt as a child, but they're also very present right now. What's the difference?

My guess is the difference is that the reasons for the feelings are from the past, not the present. Are you trapped now? Are you powerless or hopeless now, in the present? Or do these feelings come from being trapped and powerless from past happenings? That's what is meant by "old feelings," even when those old feelings bite your butt in the present.
Thanks for this!
